Job Capsule:
Under general direction, participates in selection, processing, and application of composites, elastomers, plastics, lubricants, and other non-metallic materials for multiple projects and/or projects of greater complexity. Conducts analyses and tests of non-metallic materials, writes test procedures, and analyses test results for assigned projects. Proficient in the knowledge of non-metallic materials and processes as applied to molded, formed, or formulated products and components. Investigate use of alternate non-metallic materials and processes. Advises and assists in handling applicable non-metallic materials related field and manufacturing problems to maintain and improve products and services. Incorporate Reliability, HSE, Quality analysis, and Project Management techniques in all job processes. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
Skills typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or similar discipline, and 4 years of related experience. Completion of a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar discipline is preferred. Certification as a licensed Professional is also preferred.

- Participates in planning and conducts project tasks as assigned. Includes some latitude for independent action.
- Provides consultation on all applicable materials technology matters. Provides technology transfer to internal and external peers
- Documents technology transfer when appropriate.
- Develops and applies company sanctioned standards and material and processing specifications. Serves as a mentor to lower level technical staff personnel
